Wireless - I got a new experiment that I am trying. My girlfriend and I moved in across the street from a university, I was hoping that we would be able to reach the wireless connection that they provide. But it turned out that we couldnt. Until

Just recently I was reading about long range wifi. Some guys love to experiment with how far away they can surf their home internet. More reading led me to the wokfi. Look it up, its fairly ingenious.

So it got me thinking, I wasnt able to reach the school because I didnt have the right equipment. I figured the signal would just be broadcasted so strongly that I wouldnt have to do anything. WRONG! So I added a little dinky antenna that came with another wireless card, just to see if there would be a difference. Just that change alone let me see about 4 more wireless signals in my apartment. So I started shopping and learning about wireless everything.

I settled for a directional antenna instead of omni-directional because of price. I am fairly excited because it comes in a few days. I am hoping I can reach the university signal, but without having a line of sight, I am doubtful. In any case, I can see how many signals in the apartment there are.
