Loans - As a former loan officer, I can tell you it sucks! Probably, because I was fighting for scraps like all the other vultures and I should have been a lion making kills. Cold calling isnt easy, and it takes a dedicated (and slightly psychotic) individual to do well. But like anything there is a trick. Common ground, it was pounded in my head until it was the only thing I could think. Build common ground with your borrower. Think of them as your borrower and they will be. Oh come on! Statistically, even the best loan officers dont pull in more than 1 in 10 with good leads, and Im expected to hit a home run with every single one if I build a connection?

 

I did learn a valuable lesson in the mortgage industry; it was how to overcome my fear of public speaking or rejection or whatever it was. I am now more comfortable in front of people, camera, or in the spotlight. No more nausea. Those first few calls werent easy, but I made a ton of money, and that always helps.
