Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston - When Friends first came out, I never watched it. Their last episode was May 7th, 2004 and here I am watching the very first season. I have to admit that I really enjoy it. I’m one of those people that don’t find things out until a few years after it happens. So when I heard that Jennifer and Brad Pitt got divorced, I was surprised that they even got married. Go figure.
So as I watch the first season of Friends, and then I watch The Break-Up, I can see how Jennifer has aged. Quite well I might add. As I sit and wonder why drama and controversy consume media’s attention, it makes me wonder why there is an attraction to “problems”. Infidelity, nervous breakdowns, and dietary changes these are inevitably on the front page of most of your tabloids. But why are people attracted to it? To satisfy our voyeurism? To measure ourselves against celebrities? To make us feel that celebrities are real people too? I don’t think so.
So when I see a headline that reads, “Jennifer Aniston is coming between Brad and Angelina.” What causes people to read it? Lets say it was my friends in the headline, “Susan is coming between Tom and Jane”, no one would read it.
I like to think it’s a phase that people go through, but it’s not. The world is full of great literature that dwarfs the imagination. I only hope that if you enjoy reading the tabloids you also take the time to read some novels.
