Career

Career - When I was in high school I didnt care about a job much less a career, and even in college I was so confused to my path in life I was a triple major: Medicine, Mathematics and Business. I was doing quite well except for the fact that I have a life threatening brain tumor. At first I didnt even let that stop me, I was going to two colleges and was full time at each, student body President for one and Vice President for another, I had surgery on our break between winter and spring and I was back on my feet.

Ultimately, it was the second surgery that really got me. In a sense it also gave me direction. This is when I found what I really love. It took a lot of self analysis and giving up previous dreams, but I am happy on the internet. What I do is really a hybrid, but its fun.

But I do have advice for those looking for a career they love. First you have to be honest with yourself. Are you a hard worker or do you prefer to sleep all day? Do you want to ultimately work for someone or be the boss? These sound like simple questions, but unless you are honest with yourself you wont find any direction. The most important question you can ask yourself is do you want to work with your hands or your mind?
