Attorney

Attorney - I'm not one of those people that think attorneys are blood suckers that sleep under rocks and only come out at night I see them during the day too. Personally, I hate doctors more, but thats another story. My brother got into some serious trouble; he and 6 other teenagers were accused of sexually abusing another male student in the football locker room.

At first all the parents had hired an attorney to help defend the kids during the expulsion hearing, when it turned out that person was just a fraud, (he had no legal degree or expertise). After taking a large sum of money from the families, the each parent decided to get a lawyer of their own for the civil case.

This is where fear takes over; at this point the parents have spent a lot of time and money, traveling to meet lawyers, taking time off work, having meetings of their own, risking expulsion of their kids, and with no end in sight. So when the attorney suggests one of many options, one being to plead no contest and get it over with, all but one of the families agreed to it.

Personally, I was pissed. But Im a fighter, I fight when Im right to the end. And if my brother did no wrong, I would fight for him and I felt he should do the same. But he was just a boy at the time, and when mommy says one thing, its usually final.
